Sized at 38mm, the Neutron is Pinion’s smallest watch to date. Whilst it is only 1mm smaller than the previously released Atom 39, a lot of attention has gone into reducing the overall length and height of the watch to make a sleeker and more refined profile when worn on the wrist.
The dial aperture has also been reduced by 2mm, meaning the bezel surrounding it is larger and in better proportion to new case design.

Big on details
“The Neutron is the spiritual successor to the original Pinion Atom from 2017. However, for this watch I was eager to evolve Pinion’s graphic language further than I had previously. The deliberate act of omitting the Pinion logo and designing a new typographic style for numerals means at first glance, it may not instantly be recognised as a Pinion. However, I’ve referenced subtle styles and colours seen on previous models making this watch feel very much part of family and an evolution for the Pinion design code”.
Piers Berry, Pinion Founder and Designer of the Neutron
The main feature of the dial is a guilloche pattern, with the outer edge in a circular brushed finish. This is then electroplated to achieve the dial colouring (black, blue, dusty pink). Raised numerals are machined in brass, polished then electroplated in nickel (silver) before being applied by hand to the dial. Batons in a contrasting radium hue are printed and applied with SuperLuminova to aid legibility in low-light conditions.
Unlike previous models, which featured the Pinion logo prominently on the dial, The Neutron has opted for a subtle reference to the watchmaker’s name printed on the sloping inner bezel (rehault) to avoid clashing with the core guilloche centrepiece.

The Neutron features diamond-cut brass hands in a polished finish. The hour and minute hands also highlight a subtle etched groove in a contrasting matt finish running along their centre. The hands are nickel (silver) plated and filled with Superluminova to aid legibility.
Durable Swiss movement
Powering the Neutron is perhaps one of the most well- known and respected Swiss automatic movements: ETA 2824-2. Pinion has been using this movement since 2013 and it remains a reliable and quality choice of calibre perfectly suited for a fine watch such as the Neutron.
Each movement is regulated by Pinion’s watchmaking team in England over 5 days / 5 positions to a minimum of +/- 5 seconds variation a day to ensure it remains accurate.
Pinion – Galvanic Black watch
“Because ETA movements are quite scarce now, it may be difficult for companies requiring large quantities to still access these or opt for cheaper alternatives. Pinion’s ethos has always been about making quality small batches of watches, so using an ETA movement in small numbers and supporting it with servicing and parts is presently not an issue we face”.
Piers Berry, Pinion Founder and designer of the Neutron
A Personal touch
The Neutron features a circular brushed steel case back that is engraved and numbered.
Now that all engraving is undertaken in-house, means that the watch can be personalised by each customer to include a memorable date, name or phrase at no extra cost.
Pinion Neutron – Dusty pink
“Working on several special projects recently has resulted investing in a high-end machine to bring engraving in-house. Now, this means customers can choose to personalise their watch case for no extra cost.”
